Welcome back to a
new school year! We hope you all had a good holiday – and perhaps a
little sunshine ?! Your
children have made a fantastic start. They all look very smart
indeed and have risen to the challenges of their new year groups
extremely well.
We welcome Miss
Gemma Rigby to teach Class 2. Miss Rigby will be with us until
Christmas and we will be recruiting a new permanent Key Stage 2
teacher to start in January 2009.
Over the holidays,
some members of the school community have been very busy. The
Foundation & Key Stage 1 outdoor area has been paved and a shed for
storage added. The staff area has been redecorated and a new staff
kitchen fitted. Many thanks to Kim Findlay particularly for making
this happen.
Ned and Ed set off
with Mrs Smith for the Stackpole residential trip this week. As
usual they will be with
You will soon
receive an outline of the planned learning themes for Term 1 & 2. We
have been working hard to plan a more creative curriculum, whilst
still retaining the highest standards.
The first theme is
“Food, Glorious Food”. An outline of the learning intentions for
this theme for each class will be sent home next week. Class 1 are
making food in Design and Technology and Miss Johnston is hoping to
have a surplus for sale after school on Fridays to raise funds for
more cookery equipment – so don’t forget to bring your purse!

Steph Kenny, a
music specialist and very kind ex-parent,
will be helping us with music this year.
All pupils in Class 2 will, from next week, be
learning to play the recorder as part of their music lessons.
We also want to continue to develop singing and have signed
up to the national “Sing Up” programme to this end.
We need to know what you think about our school lunches.
Could we please ask
that the bus bay at the front of the school is kept clear, as we
have very young children travelling on the bus, who need to
disembark safely? Thank you.
